Nineteen of the Russian's 21 championships have been won on hard courts

A resurgent the Russian player claimed his maiden title for over two years with success over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.

The Russian, a ex- world number one, has experienced a torrid period, winning just one win at the Grand Slams and suffering a meltdown at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his service game in especial - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and ultimately parting ways with long-term mentor Gilles Cervara.

Now collaborating with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily advanced in the past month - culminating in a tightly fought competitive victory over challenger Corentin Moutet.

It is the player's maiden championship following the Rome competition and first on a hard court since spring of 2023.

Victory also signifies the Russian has secured twenty-one titles at twenty-one different events.

"For the first time I'm at a tournament with my children at once, so to secure a trophy is particularly special," said ranked player Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my child Victoria, because the first title I won when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had failed in his last six finals, featuring in Halle in the past months.

Medvedev's retrieving play style and frequent outbursts on the tennis court had prompted some to question if his ability to compete at the elite level was finished.

But the player has altered his approach in recent weeks, making an effort to approach the net and play positively, backed up by an improved service.

He recovered from a deficit in the initial set against the challenging opponent, securing four of the concluding five games to go ahead.

Both players traded break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, striving for his maiden tour championship, seized the initiative to force a decider.

He saved 4 early-game chances in a competitive third set before the Russian broke to 15 to serve for the match.

Appropriately, Medvedev secured the title with a rally at the net area, with Moutet failing to control a return after over two and a half hours.
